The Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival

The annual Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival takes place in upcountry Kamuela, on the Big Island of Hawaii, in February. This event marks the annual bloom of the historic cherry trees at Kamuela’s Church Row Park and celebrates the Japanese tradition of hanami, or the viewing of the flowers in springtime. The Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival traditionally takes place each year on the first Saturday of the month of February when the cherry trees have begun to bloom after the winter chill. Enjoy a variety of activities at the festival each year including experience hands on demonstrations of bonsai, mochi pounding and tea ceremony, multi-cultural performing arts, and more.
